The Hands and Heart Behind Vermont Simple Life

The Story

We didn’t just move to Vermont; we chose a life where “making” is at the center of everything we do. Whether it’s the smell of sawdust in the woodshop, the feel of acrylic on a fresh canvas, or the morning routine with the chickens and the dogs—this is our version of a life well-lived.

From the creation of children’s books, comics, and coloring pages to days spent hiking, skiing, and boating, it’s all part of us. Whether we are checking out what wild animals visited our property or sharing the progress of our barn and home builds, it is all part of The Vermont Simple Life.

Who We Are

I’m Glenn. Along with my wife, Erin, and our two adult children, we’ve built a world where creativity and hard work aren’t just hobbies—they are our daily bread. After years in the furniture industry and high-end speculation home building, I realized that the most fulfilling projects aren’t just about the structures; they are the ones that have a story to tell.

Why “Vermont Simple Life”?

The “Simple Life” isn’t always easy. It’s early mornings in the barn, constant building, and the unpredictability of the seasons. We created The Vermont Simple Life to share that reality—the raw, the rustic, and the rewarding. It is a place to connect our different passions under one roof.

The Craft: Art & Woodworking

  • The Workshop (Brown Dogs Woodworking): This is where custom heirloom furniture and functional shop drawings come to life. It’s about precision, craft, and building things that last longer than we will.
  • The Studio (Glenn Edebohls Studio): My fine art is where the sawdust clears. It’s where I explore color and texture through acrylics, capturing the energy of the world around us.

The Heart: Books, Comics & Coloring Pages

When my children were young, I worked long hours and was away from home a lot. I often felt like I didn’t know my own children as well as I wanted to. To bridge that gap, I wrote family adventure stories as a way to stay connected with them.

Those stories were never originally meant for the world—they were meant for us. But because they helped hold my family together, I realized they might help other families, too. The comics and coloring pages grew from that same place: a way to share our daily life and bring a bit of “Through the Eyes of Henley” to everyone else.

One Goal

Whether you’re here for woodworking plans, a custom piece of furniture, a new painting, the latest barn or home build update, or our family adventure books, we are sharing our life with you from our small homestead in Vermont.

Welcome to our Vermont.
